About

I’m a writer, a smithy of words, a creator of concepts, a wrangler of ideas.

I’ve been a freelancer, a junior copywriter, a Senior Writer, a Creative Director, a Senior Creative Director...heck, even an Executive Creative Director. I’ve worked on beer, wine, spirits, dog food, baby food, more beer, auto racing, auto parts, banks, bars, bug spray, lottery tickets, even more beer, zoo attractions and nearly everything in-between. I can inspire a busy working person to buy something (a product, a service, an idea), or inspire an agency creative department to rediscover the joys of fresh thinking.

Good conceptual thinker, writer, editor, presenter, musician, coach. And Emmy winner, which still feels weird to say out loud.

I’ve written most of what you’ll see on this site. A couple of things were created by other talented folks under my creative directorship at various agencies. Sometimes I was extremely hands-on; sometimes I was smart enough to just stay the hell out of the way.

I know the punchline to every joke ever told, even if the setups are sometimes a little fuzzy these days. I’m a repository of ridiculously trivial information, which often comes in handy in this business, or in case I inexplicably wake up one morning and find myself on a game show.

In addition to ad stuff, I play guitar and write songs occasionally. In a good year, I can make tens of dollars in royalties.
